As we feast on turkey and dressing today, we can look forward to an even better feast after Jesus returns:
Isaiah 25:6-9 (ESV):
"On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow**, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations.
He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
** The English translation “marrow” in that verse in Hebrew is a passive participle verb: “wiping” (of the mouth) indicating how juicy the meats served to us that day will be. It sounds like we will need a LOT of napkins!!
Notice:
God, the Lord of host will prepare it for his people. Amazing!
It will be for all peoples.
Rich food and well aged wine was the fare of royalty - and he will serve it to his people.
He will swallow death, which was the penalty for Adam’s Plunge. In other words the penalty for our sins will be done away with.
He will wipe away tears from all faces.
The reproach of his people he will remove.
This is guaranteed to happen because he said it would. “He has spoken” and God’s Word always accomplishes its purpose. (see Is. 55:11)
Jesus also spoke about a great feast he will serve to his servants when he returns.
Luke 12:36–40 (ESV)
37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Notice in this passage Jesus says he will put on his apron, have us sit down, and he will serve us!!!!!! Amazing!
My prayer is that you will be at that feast.
